My goal in life is to promote world peace by spreading the love of Lindy Hop!
Lindy Hop TV

With two "kidlets" at home, I am only responding to email
and updating the list about once a month. Thanks for your patience.

Southern California Lindy Society In Association with:

TV shows that have episodes with Lindy Hop in them:
  • The Simpsons "Lady Bouvier's Lover" Written by Bill Oakley & Josh Weinstein Directed by Wes Archer -- Monty Burns and Marge's mother, Jackie, dance to Sing, Sing, Sing
  • I Love Lucy
  • Who's the Boss?
  • M.A.S.H. Hawkeye Pierce was a big fan of Lindy Hop
  • McHale's navy episode #1733 Portrait of a Peerles Leader.  Captain Binghamton doing some steps.
  • Suddenly Susan supposedly has a scene with Lindy Hop in it.
  • Beverly Hills 90210: sometime around Dec 1998 there was an episode with Brian Setzer as a guest -- I didn't see it, so I don't know if it was Lindy they were dancing....
  • It's rumored that there was an episode of "Valerie" where the mother (Valerie Harper) was trying to teach her oldest son (Jason Bateman) the Lindy
  • Tom and Jerry cartoon called "Zoot Suit Tom". The plot centers around a female cat who is attracted to a "hep cat". Tom makes himself a zoot suit out of a striped awning and then smashes down a lamp shade to make a "tando". Lots of zany parody of the jitterbug scene.
  • Both Cab Calloway and Jimmy Lunceford were featured in mixed live/animated shorts in the Max Fleischer series that evolved into "Betty Boop"
  • Popeye In one episode Bluto is a zoot-suiter. Olive Oyl is fascinated with him and they go off. Eventually Popeye downs a can of spinach and sprouts a zoot suit and does some spectacular aerials to win Olive back
  • Sister, Sister on Warner Bros has an episode with Lindy. The two sisters had dreams that they were living in the past..specifically around WW II
  • This Joint is Jumpin' Great documentary with interviews from old and new lindy hoppers and bands. Aired on Bravo! originally in October 2000. May come out on video eventually. There's a book by the same name available (see my books page).

If you know of any other films or TV episodes that have LINDY HOP (not just "swing") in them, please let me know.
